The naming of the daughter of Geri Halliwell is a good example of good intent having just gone a little awry. The former Spice Girl would arguably be one of the forerunners for least sane of her bandmates, given that she decided to cut ties and go solo whilst the group were still making millions, especially when you consider that the solo career of Ginger Spice must be regarded as one of the worst ventures in pop music history. So it would be forgivable to believe that she would flip out and name her child something which would reflect the remorse she had at having to become one of Simon Cowell's pawns to stake out a living in music once again. But what she gave to her daughter was the name Bluebell Madonna. On surface value, "Bluebell" is just about passable; it's not difficult to picture a group of extremely upper class, white-suited cocktail bar aficionados in Kensington suddenly calling out the name to their friend who has just walked into the room. So that's almost okay, but the scales are then tipped massively against her when you consider the middle name "Madonna". Okay, so Geri's clearly a fan of the Queen of Pop, but the point to consider here is that "Madonna" is not a name that anyone actually goes by, aside from faux-religional characters. When the two names are put together you get a sense of a cartoon hippy character who wanders the land with an enormous golden bra for coverage. Most certainly not the image Halliwell would have liked for her kid, I'm sure.
