We've all heard of Dolly the sheep, but you may not realise how far we've come since then. There are now companies out there that are offering a pet cloning service à la Arnie Schwarzenegger's sci-fi tour de force The 6th Day, in which the beloved Fido can live forever in his various incarnations. That South Korea based company, Sooam Biotech's website has some recommendations to ensure a good clone, including "DO NOT place the cadaver inside the freezer" and "wrap the body in wet bathing towels". Sage advice indeed. The company only currently clone dogs, sorry cat lovers, and have a branch in the UK that recently ran a "dog cloning competition" in which they were offering one lucky winner the chance to have their much-loved mutt cloned for free - and with the hefty £63,000 price tag, that probably the only way any of us would have the chance to play one more game of fetch with the deceased family pet.
