9. Lightning Never Strikes The Same Place Twice

Lightning A metaphor used to suggest that something bad would never happen to the same person twice, the origins are mythical and misleading. Lightning is the result of the build up of positive and negative charges that accumulate in thunder clouds, releasing a discharge of electricity that can reach temperatures 5 times hotter than the surface of the sun. Tall television towers and skyscrapers are the hottest spots for recurring strikes, with The Empire State building getting zapped around 100 times a year. Not only that, but according to NASA, lightening can strike in more than one place at once, making the probability of getting struck by lightning 45% higher than the average number of flashes there are. Hopefully that bad thing still won€™t happen to you again, but if it was a lightning strike €“ it just might.
