10 Secrets Only Two People In The World Know
4. What The Led Zeppelin Symbols Mean
Led Zeppelin's fourth studio album is one of the bestselling rock LPs of all time, which is impressive for a record without a name in the traditional sense.
The album, which some refer to as Led Zeppelin IV and others as ZoSo, was originally released with a strange image of an old man carrying a bundle of sticks on the cover and no text. Record label Atlantic provided the press with four cryptic symbols, each one representing a band member, and told them that was the record's title.
Over the years, Robert Plant, John Paul Jones and the late John Bonham have been up front about the meaning of their symbols, but Jimmy Page has kept mum about his. The 'ZoSo' image is still adopted by the band today, while the others are not, yet it remains just as mysterious as it was back in 1971.
Page has flat-out refused to divulge the significance of his symbol, except to bandmate Plant, who has admitted to being shocked by the revelation and once claimed to have blocked the explanation out from his mind.
