10 Staggeringly Absurd Conspiracy Theories

4. Murder By Tsunami!

Nuclear TsunamiThe Theory Disturbingly, this theory is extremely popular across swathes of the Middle East and Asia. The Boxing Day tsunami that killed, injured and made homeless thousands of people living on the coastlines of the Indian ocean in 2004, was triggered by an Indian nuclear experiment. Aided by American and Israeli experts, the Indians triggered the nuke in the ocean to cause massive damage to heavily Muslim populated regions across the coastline. The Proof The main thesis behind the nuclear hypothesis seems to concern the sheer amount of energy given off by the quake-1500 times that of the Hiroshima atomic bomb, though less than half that of the largest nuclear weapon ever. Otherwise, it seems to be fuelled largely by paranoia stemming from the nuclear race between India and Pakistan, and the idea that such an experiment could be physically possible to perform. The Truth The lack of retaliation by Pakistan or any of the surrounding affected countries is telling. Surely if the Indians had killed hundreds of thousands by detonating a nuclear device underwater, there would have at least been efforts made to publically point the finger at the government responsible. The seismic oscillation of the Earth's surface was undeniably in proportion with a large magnititude earthquake than a large scale nuclear test, and the fact that the vast majority of the energy released by the event occurred underground shows the nuclear theory to be highly unlikely.

I am a freelance writer, currently residing in Newcastle Upon Tyne, England. I was raised by wolves in the woodlands of Northumberland, but am still posher than Colin Firth having dinner with The Queen. I write all of my pieces by swallowing a cocktail of scrabble tiles and vodka, then regurgitating them over my jotter. Hope this explains the typos.
