10 Stephen King Stories Begging For Sequels

Firestarter was one of the last novels of the "early" King period which began with his debut novel, Carrie.  His first book to be published in the 80s, it was almost sandwiched between periods - the early books, consisting of the likes of The Stand, The Shining, and 'Salem's Lot, and the 80s "classic" King works like The Talisman, Pet Semetary, and It.

As such, it's a bit of a forgotten gem. Ask any King fan for a favourite work, and they'll mention It, The Stand, the Dark Tower series, or perhaps his incredible short story collections. Not convinced? In 2012, Lilja's Library, one of the biggest King fan sites, polled 10,000 readers as to their favourite King work. Firestarter didn't even make the top 30, coming in at 39th overall.

Yet it's a solid story begging for a follow-up. The tale of young Charlie McGee, a girl with pyrokinetic abilities thanks to her parents having been part of an experimental government drug trial (think the CIA experiments with LSD), it focuses on her life with her father while on the run from "The Shop" - the covert government agency who ran the experiments and who want to harness the girl's power.

It ends with Charlie arriving at Rolling Stone to tell her story to the publication. What happens after that? Well that's what we want to know.
