10 Stephen King Stories Begging For Sequels
4. Carrie
While Carrie had an on-screen sequel in the absolutely terrible The Rage: Carrie 2, the book itself, originally published in 1974, has never had a follow-up, which is a shame. Carrie is, of course, a classic, and the novel that introduced King to the popular consciousness. The pig's blood prom scene has achieved iconic status, and was introduced to a new generation thanks to the recent remake (2013) starring Chloe Grace Moretz.
Of course, King's tale of a telekinetic girl losing control of her abilities as puberty hits and her overbearing mother clamps down on her ends in tragedy for Carrie herself, as she doesn't survive the novel, but as with many of King's works, there is room left for a further outing, as the book finishes up with word that another girl with similar abilities exists.
What happens to that girl, whose mother, unlike Carrie's, is supportive, would be something to think about - and would make for a great follow-up tale, especially if done as a counterpoint.
