10 Strange Folklore Myths You Won't Believe

2. Spring Heeled Jack

Bruce Wayne's evil twin... Spring Heeled Jack is an entity of English Folklore during the Victorian period where people were baffled by what it was they saw (or believed to have seen). Sightings of Jack were recorded all over the country although he was most popular in London. He was given the name Spring Heeled Jack by the media who would write reports of his sightings and attacks. Jack was a menace and was apparently able to jump over 9ft walls, buildings and roof tops in order to escape the scene after he picked on an unsuspecting pedestrian. Jack isn't thought to be human, more of a ghost or the Devil himself, and he would prey mostly on women who were unaccompanied at night. He was first seen in 1837 and last encountered in 1904 where he was seen jumping from the street and onto rooftops.
