10 Strange Folklore Myths You Won't Believe

1. Fairies

When you think of a fairy, you'll probably think automatically of Tinkerbell or Fairy Godmothers; basically you'll believe that fairies are good and magical beings. However, according to folklore, fairies were nasty little so and sos. Fairies were typically associated as being woodland, supernatural spirits of the dead and if they ever lured you into their part of the woods, you could never return home or if you did, you were in a different time zone; one hour in fairy time is like 100 years in human time. They were typically associated with being menacing and although some of their 'pranks' were harmless, other were extremely dangerous for humans. They would steal newborn babies and in order to get your child back, you would need to find the fairy mound (which was harder than it sounds), dig up the fairy, bop them on the nose and tell them off and in return, they would return your baby to you at nighttime, completely healthy. If you didn't find them in time, your child would die. If you have any comments, feel free to post them in the thread below.
