10 Stupid Things Brits Think About Americans

1. Americans Are All Stupid

http://youtu.be/q566ys0sqVQ This is probably, alongside the obesity issue, the most common stereotype that the British discuss when they mention America. And you just wait to see how much it grows if Mitt Romney is elected President. However, as opposed to the obesity issue that the Americans can't really defend themselves about, the supposed 'stupidity' is a great deal more arguable. A number of prominent Americans do not benefit their justification of being an intellectually superior culture. Paris Hilton. Britney Spears. Chris Brown. Sarah Palin. George W. Bush. You could write a list until you were so brain dead that you would have no choice but to add yourself to that list. But, the British cannot deny that they have a group of silly notables that could easily be added to this cluster. Boris Johnson. Chantelle Houghton. Amanda Holden. On the whole, I feel the intelligence of Americans compared to the British is probably about equal. Oh, and just for the record, Stephen Hawking is British. Perhaps then if the Americans are not truly stupid, it is more believable that they are ignorant of other cultures, and lack the intellectual curiousity to expand their minds beyond the state that they reside in. If you search the phrase "Stupid Americans" into YouTube, you will find countless videos of American people showing a lack of historical, geographical or scientific insight. But, that is only because they have that stereotype attached to them by foreigners. One could easily make a video like that about the British, French, Germans or Australians. The fact that there are a huge number of Americans, and therefore a larger number of stupid Americans, is actually their downfall. To be honest, every nation has the capability of producing people within their populous that are silly, ignorant, dim-witted or just plain stupid, just as much as they are capable of producing geniuses and pioneers. If the British continue to assert this particular stereotype upon the Americans, perhaps we should have a look in the mirror, and realise that both sides of the Atlantic. Especially if you look in the mirror and wonder who the guy in front of you is and why he's in your house. Level of Brit Stupidity: 8
