10 Terrible Role Models In Stephen King Books

10. Louis In Pet Semetary

Biggest Crime Committed: Bringing back his child from the dead. Regardless of author or plot, stories about parents who have lost their common sense and have dismissed any real sense of paternal responsibility tend to have an inevitably bad ending. This is completely true of Louis Creed, who loses any notions of level headedness when he opts to bring his deceased son Gage back from the dead after he's hit by a truck outside of their relatively new home. Readers need to bear in mind that Louis has already taken his daughter's dead cat up to the creepy burial grounds and brought it back to some creepy form of life, and seen with his own eyes what the terrible consequences are. Perhaps we could forgive him for that; after all, he's only trying to prevent his daughter from experiencing severe misery. But to be so stupid as to go back to the cemetery and bury his dead child in order to try and revive him? There is no forgiveness for that. Louis knew it was a bad idea, but he went ahead and did it anyway. Worst role model of a father, ever.

I love Stephen King and music festivals; I eat my toast upside down; I daydream about getting married probably a bit too much; and I wish every day for a pet sausage dog puppy (who never materialises – sob).
