10 Terrifying Monsters Sighted Around The World

9. Michigan Dogman

With a man’s body and a dog’s head, one could be forgiven for mistaking the Michigan Dogman for a werewolf. But werewolf he is not, as he does not possess the powers of lycanthropy. Science, b*tch.

With the first documented sighting in 1887 from two lumberjacks in Wexford County, the legend of the Dogman states he attacks in a pack of wild dogs, though he himself is clearly identifiable by his bipedal movement and seven-foot stature.

With reports of the Dogman spiking after a local DJ released a song about the creature (without knowing he was already a legend in the indigenous community), there’s plenty of sightings out there that corroborate the legend - from him hiding in the woods outside people’s homes to lure them outside, to lurking by local rivers whilst searching for potential victims.

The most frightening of all perhaps is the skinwalker theory of the Ottawa-Chippewa tribe - that the Dogman is an evil spirit intent on harm. His human-scream-like howl and humanoid features play into the legend further, acting as classic indications of such a creature. The Navajo stories stretch back centuries, and denotes the Dogman with a terrifying new level of danger, especially in light of the severity in which Native American communities regard these entities.

If you thought you didn’t want to run into a lethal man-wolf hybrid in the middle of the night before, you definitely won’t now.
