10 Terrifying Prehistoric Creatures We Should See In A Movie
7. Terror Birds
The idea of a giant flightless bird being a terrifying predator may not sound particularly scary. Still, there is a reason why the name terror bird is used to describe the species phorusrhacidae. These massive creatures were certainly capable of being intimidating as they were apex-predators, as it's known that the strong downward curve on the tip of their beaks would have been used to rip flesh from their victims.
These horrifying predators lived during the Cenozoic era and ranged from between 3 and 10 ft. This puts the monsters at a terrifyingly large stature as compared to humans and means that they could make easy work of having you as their prey.
It is believed that phorusrhacids were incredibly fast runners, as they primarily hunted small agile creatures which could be dispatched with minimal struggle. Their fast pace is another element that makes their presence utterly intimidating and would make for a great conflict within a film.
Terror Birds have seen a presence in the medium before, most notably in the movie 10,000 BC in which there was an entire scene dedicated to an attack from them. However, the horrendous beasts are capable of being much more than just a single scene threat and should be used as the terrifying apex-predators that they were.
