Similar to Wolverine, John Constantine isn't your typical Hollywood-smile, face-of-America superhero. He's a chain-smoking cynic, who in the comics is a blonde Brit resembling Sting, whereas in the films, he's played by Keanu Reeves. There are multiple differences from the comic, but in the film, Constantine actually kills himself to escape his horrible superpower. Whilst Ghost Rider can summon himself a motorcycle from the very furnaces of the underworld, that's a choice that he can learn to control, and use depending on whether he really needs a motorcycle at that moment in time; John Constantine sees angels and demons on the same plane as humanity. That's a power that drove him so mad, he couldn't live with it. It damned it to an eternity in hell.
