Our next suggestion is a football, as in a soccer ball for the non-British amongst you. Not only was Britain the main driving force behind commercialising and popularising football, it is also rumoured to have originally come up with the modern-day version of this famed sport. Every year, millions if not billions of people go to their local stadium or sit in and watch a football match on the television. This as a result brings in millions of pounds from ticket sales, TV viewings, advertising and more. It is a massive source of financial aid that is true, and it's also a source of joy and upset for the British populace. Football represents a key part of every supporter's life, and has done so for the past 200 years through the continued attendance and dedication given by every football fan. There's nothing more they'd like to see than a football on the other side of that shiny new coin. Why not? Non-football fans would absolutely hate it and rightly so. They have no interest in football, in fact some people try to avoid it at all costs and so it wouldn't be fair on them to have to stare at an engraved ball on the most used coin in their wallet each time they went to buy something. But it still would be a fantastic image to have on the £1 coin if the entirety of the population was as obsessed with football as some stereotypes would lead you to believe.
