hltnv.comNo matter how polite, how overly attentive, how exceptional your waitressing was - do not expect a tip. It is a perk of the job. Being given extra cash for something you're already been paid for. Don't get your hopes up. A really posh restaurant, attracts really posh guests, who pay for really posh meals - a waitress could be lucky enough to get a £20 tip from one table. But working in a standard, everyday pub or café - treasure the £1 you've just been left. Eventually, that £1 will add up. It just takes a little bit longer. Expect to be given 5p as a generous offer. The trick here is to smile and thank the customer for their kindness. Deep inside be seething that you've worked your arse off to provide top-notch service and the best they could give was 5p. It's just rude.
