4. No, They Can't Fix Your Water Damaged iPhone For Free

We've all been there, texting on the loo and as you've gone to stand up your phone has dropped down the toilet. It's that nightmare situation that you're really not prepared for. So what do you do? You've got a couple of options, if you've got insurance then you're fine but if you don't, you may think about chancing your luck at the Apple Store and see if you can fool them into thinking it has stopped working all by itself. Sadly for you, Apple employees aim to serve 6 or 7 people an hour and the chances are one of those have had a water-related incident. As well as that, iPhones have a secret little indicator, which is commonly found behind the SIM card port so they know if you're lying. What's worse is, although you think you have a 1 year (or in some cases 2 year) warranty with the phone, accidentally damage isn't covered under the standard warranty agreement so you're going to have to fork out for a whole new device. To make things worse, there's not really a lot the employees can do to help, they will try their best but if the signs of water damage is present it's RIP to your handheld lover. For some people this will make them extremely unhappy and sad and some will ask to speak to a manager, but in Apple land that doesn't really work. Store managers know the facts, they can station managers specifically in the Genius Bar to deal with 'conflict customers' so throwing a strop will not get you anywhere.
