10 Things We Learned From Bret Weinstein On The Joe Rogan Experience
6. Does He Agree With Dave Chappelle?
Dave Chappelle made plenty of headlines recently when the comedian dropped an impromptu video on YouTube titled '8:46'. In this video, the legendary comedian shined a light on the current BLM movement and vented his frustration over the killing of George Floyd - something Rogan and Weinstein would tackle later in the podcast.
But, Weinstein first wanted to focus on Chappelle's video. Weinstein admitted that he got what the comedian was saying, but on the other hand he got it wrong.
Weinstein believed that Chappelle suggested he was on-board with movement based on his 'massive frustration' at how deaf the white population have been to black suffering. The former Evergreen professor agreed with this being a problem, but Weinstein confessed he wasn't sure how much Chappelle knew about what the movement actually is or what it wants.
He clarified that he had the maximum amount of respect for Chappelle, but Weinstein thinks he may not be seeing the fact that the movement is 'spouting nonsense about getting rid of science'. Instead he's only seeing the videos of brutal violence and formulating his opinion based off that.
This eventually snowballed into a conversation about the death of George Floyd which we definitely didn't see coming...
