10 Things We Learned From Bret Weinstein On The Joe Rogan Experience

5. Did We Actually Witness The Murder Of George Floyd?

This was undoubtedly the most controversial exchange you'll find in this particular episode of the JRE.

Off the back of the pair dissecting the Dave Chappell '8:46' video, Weinstein confessed he was 'afraid' to go down this next road. He asked Joe to question what he actually saw during the video of George Floyd being knelt on by an officer (Derek Chauvin) and what it actually tells you about what happened.

He admitted that the officer being guilty and convicted of murder would be the best thing for the well being of the world. Yet, he's not sure that's what is supposed to happen.

'Did you witness a murder?' was the question Weinstein asked Joe. He stressed that he's not saying it wasn't a murder, he is only stating that what the world saw didn't tell us that it was specifically murder.

This clearly intrigued Rogan (as it did your writer) and the conversation evolved into a debate over what actually went down during the lead up to Floyd's death, with Rogan arguing that the technique used by the police department shouldn't have been used.

Weinstein also admitted that if Chauvin did go to court and for whatever reason was not found guilty of murder then the events which would follow could trigger a civil war. Therefore, Weinstein seems to think he could be sacrificed no matter what in order to keep the peace.

To summarise, Rogan doesn't see a reality where Chauvin isn't guilty, but Weinstein simply wants the trial to be held in a court of law.
