10 Things We Learned From Tony Hawk On The Joe Rogan Experience

4. He Has Taken Some Serious Bumps Through His Career

When you are an innovator in a sport with the potential for danger that skateboarding has at the highest levels, it's not surprising that seasoned pros suffer some serious slams throughout their careers.

On the podcast, Tony recounts one of the worst injuries of his life occurred while he was skating a loop, where he bailed while upside down and ultimately sustained a variety of injuries including a fractured skull, fractured pelvis and a broken thumb.

Hawk also previously discussed the incident during an episode of MTV's scarred, that includes a video of the accident that is seriously not for the faint of heart.

However, when you consider that Tony has spent the majority of his adult life pushing the boundaries of skating on vert ramps that are often nearly 5 meters high it's pretty amazing that he has escaped suffering even more serious injuiries.
