One of the most fascinating things discussed in the podcast to people who aren't up to date on the current skating meta is just how much the sport has become practised around the world. Tony talks about how skating has become popular in Ethiopia, with Hawk having travelled to the African country to help promote the growth of the art form.

The mindblowing ingenuity of skaters over the years has proven that just about any terrain can be moulded into an area where skateboarding can take place. This is even further exemplified when Hawk explains that skating is also growing in popularity in Afghanistan.

A non-profit organisation known as Skateistan operates from the country's capital, and actively promotes the participation of young female skateboarders in the sport, which was featured in the 2019 Academy Award-winning documentary: Learning to Skateboard in a Warzone (If You're a Girl).
