8. The Real Flag

Standards of respect for the flag of United States suggest that that it should only be flown outside between sunset and sunrise. For this reason there is only one true flag flown in the Magic Kingdom. All others you might see on Main Street are flawed in some way so that they can fly all day as they aren't official.

The only correct flag flies in the middle of the town square (usually where Pluto hangs out). Each day at 5pm you can watch the flag retreat. The real flag is lowered as the band plays the "Star Spangled Banner".

A guest veteran is given the honour taking the lowered flag and there is a short procession down Main Street to a medley of military songs.
