Some of Mara's first experiences of acting came from the stage, and from a young age she wasn't even interested in acting for on-screen appearances. She made her Broadway debut in 2003 with Landscape Of The Body which fulfilled her lifelong dream. She told MoviesOnline: "Yeah, I love stage. I love it. I would love to do that so much. That's how I started. That's basically how I learned how to act was in theatre. I think the first play I did, I was nine or something like that, just community stuff, and that was really my acting school. "Being from New York, I just grew up going to see Broadway shows, and it actually made me want to be an actor. So yeah, that would make me feel really amazing if I ever got back to Broadway."
