One of the defining parts of the ride, and something that will be sticking with you long after you've returned to the shore, is the catchy tune that plays throughout, Yo Ho Yo Ho (A Pirate's Life For Me). It's as likely to get stuck in your head as the It's A Small World song, but without making you question your entire existence.

The lyrics to the song were written by Xavier 'X' Atencio, who also wrote the script for the ride itself, which marked the first time he had ever written a script. Atencio also wrote the story (and song lyrics) for The Haunted Mansion. The music, meanwhile, was scored by George Burns, who scored Disney animated classics such as Sleeping Beauty and The Jungle Book.

It was performed by The Mellowmen, a barbershop quartet who worked on Disney films such as Peter Pan, Lady and the Tramp, The Jungle Book, and Alice in Wonderland, and were fronted - of course - by Thurl Ravenscroft.
