10 Valentine’s Day Facts You Probably Didn’t Know
8. South Koreans Celebrate Loving Pretty Much Every Month
South Koreans take our Western traditions and top that annual 'it's 14 February, let's love' excitement by celebrating happiness on the 14th of every single month.
In order from January-December, those fun-loving South Koreans celebrate Candle Day, Valentine’s Day, White Day, Black Day, Rose Day, Kiss Day, Silver Day, Green Day (hopefully by listening to Dookie in full several times throughout), Music Day, Wine Day, Movie Day, and Hug Day.
Admit it, Wine Day was the one that stood out from the crowd. You might need some when you realise that you'd have buy presents for your loved one on a regimented schedule twelve times a year. Don't worry though, some of these dates are less about gifts and more about togetherness.
During the Black Day celebration, for example, single people are asked to come together and chow down on a native dish called Jajangmyeon. This is basically noodles with black bean sauce, hence the name of the holiday.
