7. Death By (Someone Who Thinks They're A) Vampire
Apparently there is an increasing number of incidents where people believe they are vampires. What makes this even more disturbing is that these young people are drawing their inspiration not from Bram Stoker or F W Murnau, but from the risible Twilight movie franchise and the dreadful True Blood television series. In July of 2011, Jacob "Jake" Hendershot was murdered after two men belonging to a vampire cult lured him into a house, then beat and choked him to death. It was alleged that one of the murderers attempted to cut Hendershot's throat. The motivation for the slaying seems to have been that Hendershot was secretly dating one of the assailants' girlfriend on the side. In a bizarre television interview the femme fatale said: "I know this is going to be crazy, but I believe that I'm a vampire and part werewolf." She also confessed that her and her boyfriend drank each other's blood. What a way to go; killed by a sullen, moody individual with a floppy fringe and a penchant for the over application of eyeliner. And why can't these people be influenced by a proper vampire movie? One which requires them to file their two front teeth to jagged points and shave their heads? Lightweights.
