11 Ancient Apocalyptic Myths

Islamic texts indicate that the world will end before being reborn on al-Qiyamah, the Day of Resurrection. On this day all life will be resurrected after being destroyed and then it will be judged by God. Before this day there will be many minor and major signs indicating that it is approaching. The world will be plunged into chaos during this period which will be caused by Masih ad-Dajjal, the Antichrist.

However, the Mahdi, a messiah, will appear and defeat him, starting a period of peace and religious observance. When the dead are resurrected and judged, good and evil people will be separated for eternity. Sinners will go to Jahannam, hell, and the pious will go to Jannah, paradise.
