10. Everything Has United States Of America Plastered All Over It

tumblrtumblrPop idol? Here it's American idol. Gladiators? American Gladiators. Ninja Warrior? American Ninja Warrior and so on. But it doesn't end on low-quality TV shows - it's everywhere; official Army patches have 'United States' on them, as does the Navy, Coast Guard, and Marines along with every government agency. The President isn't known merely as the President, it's the President of the United States or POTUS for short. The Supreme Court is the SCOTUS - guess what the last two letters mean. There's country pride and then there's this and it takes some getting use to. Are they worried folks will confuse the US with a different country? "Ma, I'm joining the Navy!", "That's great son... which one?". And despite denigrating the US flag generally being a crime, everyone here wears Stars and Stripes clothing from socks to T shirts to thongs. The only time I see people wearing anything but red white and blue is on St Patrick's Day when everyone turns emerald - speaking of which...
