The M-29 Davy Crockett Weapon System was a recoilless rifle that was capable of firing M-388 nuclear projectiles. In other words, it was a real-life version of the Fat Man weapon from the Fallout games. Incredibly destructive in comparison to other portable weapons systems, the Davy Crockett was developed for use in case war broke out against the Soviets in Europe. Capable of wiping out an entire town, the Davy Crockett was fundamentally flawed in that the soldiers firing it were more than likely to receive a harmful dose of radiation themselves.
