Anyone who's been to Disney World knows the frequency of the various parades and character displays, marching, dancing and singing their way through the park at a bunch of scheduled times. They're supposed to be totally light-hearted and fun, but on Feburary 11th 2004, one parade in particular was anything but.

The parade was the Share A Dream Come True Parade, and the incident involved a thirty-eight year old employee who was taking part in the procession, dressed as the character Pluto the Dog. It was around half three in the afternoon, and the man was backstage about to pass through a gate into public view.

As he did, the employee was struck and run over by the Beauty And The Beast float and killed. It's believed the man may have tripped and not had time to get out of the way, but the exact nature of the accident remains unclear.

According to Disney it was the first time anything of the sort had ever happened to a cast member and it wasn't witnessed by any park-goers, but that's little consolation in the face of such a tragedy.
