There'll always be a risk of catching sickness when hanging out in a public place, especially one so people-dense as Disneyland California, but still – nobody expects to be caught up in an actual outbreak.

However, in 2014 at least forty people contracted measles over a three-day period, triggering a medical emergency. How? Well, despite the measles vaccine being one of the most effective vaccines out there, the measles itself is hugely contagious, so all it takes is for a low percentage to be unvaccinated for it to spread extremely quickly (there's also the fact that a certain number of people who have been vaccinated won't have complete immunity).

In the days and weeks following, well over one-hundred cases were traced to Disneyland California, spanning eight states and even travelling as far as Mexico and Canada.

Thankfully the outbreak died down before exploding any further, but it's still the largest measles outbreak in Disneyland history.
