Does this look similar to you? Conwy castle was another construction of Charles I during his invasion of Wales which is why it has similar structures as Harlech castle. Another chain in Charles' iron ring of castles, this fortress was used in an attempt to suppress any uprising from the Welsh. The castle was neglected for centuries as leaks and rotten timbers were ignored right up until the 1520s where renovation work began. During this time, the castle was used a prison and as residence for visitors - not sure who had the best deal there. But unfortunately it fell into disrepair again during the 17th - 18th Centuries and because Romanticism was in its prime, no one repaired the castle because it looked so sublime, attracting a number of visitors and artists. Don't worry, it is stable enough for you to visit.
