12 Hilarious Celeb Responses To Their Own Death

3. Jeff Goldblum

As far as internet death hoaxes go, the reports that Jeff Goldblum had died after falling from a cliff in New Zealand were just plain bizarre. Goldblum is not exactly the type of actor who strikes you as being overly stunt-orientated, and yet that is exactly what was reported to have happened globally in 2009. The reports seemed to come hand in hand with Michael Jackson's death, so because we were all shocked by the loss of the singer, we just assumed that nobody would invent a story like Goldblum's demise. Not only was the story totally untrue (Goldblum even claimed to have never been to New Zealand), but the actor took the rumour in his quirky stride, making a brilliant cameo on the Colbert Report. Colbert was performing a skit which blurred the lines between Jackson and Goldblum, stating that "We'll always have good memories of the legendary performer... Providing your memories stop around 1989", until he was interrupted by a live appearance from Goldblum himself to inform us that he was in fact live and well. Goldblum has always poked fun at the rumours, and has agreed that it's a suitably "weird" way for him to go. Unfortunately, the footage of the Colbert section is not available to view in the UK, so unless you're reading from America, there's more or less no point in trying to find the thing.
