Now it's not exactly forgivable, but it's more understandable when an A-List celebrity is the victim of a death hoax, because you're going to get millions of people the world over who are going to be at least intrigued. But at the same time, if you choose a slightly more obscure personality, such as Zach Braff, people are possibly more likely to believe it, simply because that person doesn't receive constant media attention. So when Braff was rumoured to have died in 2009, everyone was immediately shocked, particularly with the revelation that he'd committed suicide via overdose.
