12 Scientific Explanations For The Weird Things Cats Do
10. Why Do They Love Cat Haters (And Ignore Cat Lovers)?
Ain't it always the way? You have a bunch of friends round and your cat will ignore all of the eager cat lovers in the room and make a beeline straight for the person that hates them most, whether they're allergic or just plain miserable.
The reason for this is that cat lovers can be their own worst enemy. Most feline enthusiasts will make a big fuss when a cat enters the room, they might approach it, touch it, pick it up or, worst of all, stare at it.
Our natural instinct when we like something is to bare our teeth, open our eyes up wide, make a noise and reach out for it, cats will view is as threatening behaviour, particularly in a stranger.
Whereas people who loathe cats will not approach it or make a fuss, better still, they might even narrow their eyes in dislike - a sign of friendliness and contentment in cat body language.
This non-aggressive behaviour, from the cat's point of view, will mean that they are more likely to initiate contact, allowing them to have control over the situation.
The best thing to do if you want kitty to come and sit with you is to remain still and calm, blink slowly if she makes eye contact and perhaps scratch your knee or the seat next to you to pique her interest.
If you want a cat to leave you alone then the best thing to do is stare her down and carry on with your miserable, cat-less existence.
