12 Things Ed Miliband Wants You To Forget

2. He Drafted Labour's Losing Manifesto For The 2010 General Election... But Hopes To Steer His Party To Victory This Time Around

In 2007, three years before the 2010 General Election, Miliband was placed in charge of drafting the Labour Party's manifesto. When it was released in 2010, it was entitled "A future fair for all" - and it aimed to "further (Labour's) goal of a modern, progressive Britain, based on the values of fairness, respect, decency and openness". Unfortunately for Miliband and Labour this manifesto was unable to stop the party bombing at the polls and losing the 2010 General Election, with the Conservatives gaining 97 seats to move up to 306 overall (although still short of a majority). The Labour Party lost a 6.2% share in the vote, they lost 91 seats and they ultimately lost the 2010 General Election. Is Miliband likely to fare any better as leader of the party when he had been one of the key architects of Labour's manifesto last time around when they failed so miserably? He certainly hopes so...
