2. The "Coming To Get You In Your Sleep" Goblin Shark
The Goblin Shark gets its name from the fact that it's huge appetite means that it's always gobblin'.
Kidding, it's called that because just look at it.
Everything about this shark is designed to make you want to crawl out of your own skin, from its pinkish semi-translucent body to its protruding jaw filled with needle-like teeth. Oh, and did we mention that it can grow to twice the size of a fully grown man?
The most diabolical feature of the Goblin Shark is how it captures its prey. Whilst most sharks' jaws are set flush against the underside of their snouts, the Goblin can actually thrust its own jaw out past the end of the tip of its nose like some sort of toothy litter-grabber.
It is thought that the shark doesn't actually eat all that often, presumably because nothing wants to come anywhere near it for fear of being sucked down into the underworld when Satan recalls it to his side.
Another detail that really rounds off the whole story of the Goblin Shark is that the females give birth to live young, meaning they're up and ready to swim through your night-terrors right from birth.
