14 Reasons Your 20s Are Just Like The Lord Of The Rings

2. You're Betrayed In The Worst Way

At some point during your twenties, chances are you're going to experience the betrayal of a friend or S.O, which in the long run will toughen you up and make you less fickle to the advances of strange individuals. Gollum's betrayal of Frodo, inevitable though it was, still strikes a blow even when watching The Return of the King for the fourteenth time. That feeling that strikes Frodo's heart when he realises Gollum has sacrificed him to a giant spider? That's the feeling you'll get when you're cheated on by someone you thought you could trust, who you spent hours of fun with, who you thought might be part of your life until death do you part. While being betrayed is terrible and utterly heartbreaking, in the long run you'll move on, and make better choices in the friend/lover department in the future. Ain't no way Frodo was going to be friends with any mouldering old River Folk ever again.

I love Stephen King and music festivals; I eat my toast upside down; I daydream about getting married probably a bit too much; and I wish every day for a pet sausage dog puppy (who never materialises – sob).
