A technical term similar to €˜autumnal,€™ or €˜vernal,€™ estival means that which has to do with summer, like the estival solstice, for example. Although nothing extraordinary, and quite rarely used, it seems almost like a wasted opportunity for poets and laymen alike: what better word could there be than an adjectival form of €˜summer,€™ denoting the best things about everyone€™s favourite season? In actuality, though, the real missed opportunities are numerous and widespread, and they all have to do with every single summer music event that could have been called an €œEstival Festival.€ Seriously.
