2. Tim Allen
In 1978, at the age of 25, Tim Allen Dick was arrested. This was ten years before his eventual appearance on television for the first time. At an airport in Michigan, Allen was arrested for smuggling cocaine. The law at the time allowed for a term of life imprisonment to be handed down for smuggling more than 650 grams of the drug which Allen qualified for. Allen agreed to turn over details of his suppliers and anyone else he could name at the time of the arrest. All in all, he gave up the details of twenty one criminals, which instead of a possible life term, he was only sentenced to five years. He later explained that he considered suicide but instead turned to comedy. Following his release, he dropped his last name and simply became Tim Allen. His routines were about a man who was inept about using power tools. In 1991, this idea was brought to the attention of the world with the launch of Home Improvement. Something that we would never had seen if Allen had chosen to keep quiet.
