15 Famous Quotes You Always Get Wrong

10. "I Vant To Suck Your Blood!"

The actual quote: He never said it! When you think of Dracula, you're probably thinking of Bela Lugosi's peerless incarnation from the 30s Universal classic (unless you're a big Jonathan Rhys Myers fan). The look, the accent, and - most specifically - the Transylvanian "I vant to suck your blood!" Of course Lugosi is not that sort of campy actor, and it's not that sort of campy film, and no serious depiction of Dracula has ever had him saying this line. Maybe Dracula: Dead and Loving It.

9. "With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility"

The actual quote: Well, it's not so much how it's said, but who said it. The lesson that Peter Parker learns, and which cements the philosophy of his superhero career thereafter, tends to be credited to his Uncle Ben; that's how it's been in both iterations on film (albeit less directly in Amazing Spider-Man) and various other adaptations over the years. Thing is, in the original Spidey story, nobody actually says the line out loud! It's the sign-off line in a caption box, informing the readers that is the lesson old Petey Pants has learned during his initial, tragic adventure.

8. "I Don't Think We're In Kansas Anymore"

The actual quote: "Toto, I've a feeling we're not in Kansas any more." Weren't people just so much better spoken back in the 30s?

7. "Play It Again, Sam"

The actual quote: "Play it, Sam. Plays As Time Goes By" / "If you played it for her, you can play it for me. If she can stand it, then I can. Play it!" In neither case - both Bogey and Bergy trying to get Sam to play the star-crossed lovers' "song" - does anyone says the words "Play it again, Sam." In fact at this point the line is probably best known for being a misquotation, but you might not have known the proper one. Woody Allen muddied the waters further with his 1972 comedy Play It Again Sam, where his character seeks advice from an imaginary Humphrey Bogart.
