We've all heard of the image-centric mammoth of a website that is Pinterest. Since its launch in 2010, the content sharing platform has cemented itself as one of the most engaging social media applications of all time (which isn't a long time). Pinterest works because it compels and propels people to share and re-share image-driven content. Of course, the main demographic has mostly been women so far (the top categories at least). But plenty of men also find the site valuable as the website continues to spread appeal across every topic imaginable. If you've never tried Pinterest for yourself, the rules are pretty simple. Each user creates an online "pinboard." It's a board in the sense that you "pin" images to it. People can follow your boards and share the images that you post. Why It's Going To Rule...The team behind Pinterest have been busy this past year. They've been making dramatic moves in an effort to properly monetize the site in a way that will become more sustainable. They acquired Livestar a growing mobile app last March, and they even acquired Hackermeter in October. With more funding come in and a new effort to push ads on the site coming into play, Pinterest is poised to spread its influence even further.
