15 Insanely Terrible Advertising Campaigns You Won't Believe Are Real
10. LifeLock CEO Advertises His Social Security Number
LifeLock is a service that purports to protect your identity, and what better way for them to show confidence in the product than by having the CEO publish his real social security number? See, LifeLock is just so good that it doesn't even matter if Todd Davis' information is out there! "Yes, that really is my social security number," the ad reads. "No, I'm not crazy. I'm just sure our system works."
It's a gutsy experiment that could either go really well or really poorly. Guess how it turned out? Not long after the campaign began, Davis had his identity stolen thirteen times. The idea itself was actually kind of genius in theory, but only if the service legitimately works. Instead, it turned into one giant advertisement for how Lifelock is ineffective. If the company can't even protect their own CEO, how can they possibly protect you?
