15 Most Bizarre Articles Hiding On Wikipedia

5. Death By Coconut

Wikipedia

There are a lot of ridiculous death related lists on Wikipedia like "Death from laughter" and "Death during consensual sex," but the most darkly entertaining has got to be "Death by coconut." Apparently the fruit is a lot more dangerous than you'd expect, and this page includes an exhaustive list of every reported incident.

It even breaks up these deaths into multiple categories. First there's people who were struck in the head, which contains 16 items. Each entry pretty much just says "this person was hit with a coconut and died" over and over in different ways.

Then there are variations on the coconut death, with the article citing a kid who somehow died from just touching one. After that there's the law section featuring all the coconut related lawsuits you've been dying to hear about.

Reading this article is a strange journey, as it's so much more verbose than you'd expect out of a relatively simple topic.

If you ever wanted to know the exact location and date of every coconut related fatality in history along with a far too detailed description, Wikipedia is there for you! As a side effect, though, "coconut" will no longer seem like a real word by the end, as the article uses it 150 times.
