The first thing you notice when stepping outside of Dubai International Airport is suddenly being blasted by a thousand hairdryers pointed at you on full blast. At least that's the closest comparison Dubai's heat comes to for anyone who hasn't visited anywhere else in the region. You'd be hard pushed to find somewhere else on the planet which is as uncomfortable scorching, except perhaps another desert. Since Dubai is on the coast, this means the intense heat is matched with raging humidity, leading to a constant outpouring of sweat from even the smallest motion. To put it mildly, holidaying in Dubai during the summer months isn't a good idea if you want to spend any time outdoors without being transformed into a lobster. On the plus side, literally everywhere is fully air conditioned, which goes some way to explaining why some of Dubai's malls see nearly a million people passing through their doors on a weekly basis. Of course, if it all gets too much the expat can pack up and move back to their home country and soak in the unpredictable weather and occasional rainy days. Alternatively, a dip in the swimming pool is as good a way as any to cool off. What other problems with living in Dubai have you experienced? Why not let us know in the comments below?
