10. You Cant Get Pregnant If Youre Already Pregnant
Okay, admittedly this is an extremely rare occurrence but nevertheless a woman can indeed get pregnant after already becoming pregnant. Weird right? There have been cases where children have been conceived eight weeks apart and both delivered safely. It's called superfetation and as we said, it's extremely rare. In fact, there have been only 10 recorded cases of the phenomenon. In a nutshell: these pregnancies occur when a woman continues ovulating after becoming pregnant and when that second, fertilized egg is able to implant itself in the lining of the womb two things that wouldn't happen in a normal pregnancy. Typically, hormonal changes prevent further ovulation and thicken the lining of the uterus to preclude a second embryo from attaching. Despite the absurdness of it all this phenomenon shouldn't be cause for concern. However, just keep in mind that it could happen to anybody... including YOU! Though, the odds are pretty much in your favor that it will never happen to you or anybody you know. So don't worry.
