15 Things You Wrongly Think About Pregnancy

9. Pregnant Women Shouldn't Drink Coffee

Who doesn't love a nice cup of coffee in the morning? The answer to that question is... nearly nobody. In fact, 54% of Americans over the age of 18 drink coffee at least once a day. However, there seems to be this myth that drinking coffee while pregnant is inherently a bad thing. This isn't necessarily so. While there's general agreement that pregnant women and those trying to conceive should avoid consuming large quantities of caffeine this doesn't mean that you have to avoid the stuff altogether. Studies have shown that caffeine intake of less than 200 milligrams per day, which is about one 12-ounce cup of coffee, isn't bad for your childbearing endeavors. However, on the flip-side a highly publicized 2008 study found that women who consumed 200 mg or more of caffeine a day had double the risk of miscarriage of those who took in no caffeine. So ladies, feel free to enjoy that Pumpkin Spice Latte from Starbucks, just don't go crazy with it.
