5. They Lie About Time

Something that's actually standard operating procedure for airports has been adopted by amusement parks, too, in a flagrant and pretty manipulative show of their control over attendants' hearts and minds.

One of the most annoying but common experiences during a visit to a theme park is standing in line, usually for extended periods of time. Everybody wants to go on the best rides, and usually around the same time, which means you're going to be queuing up for a good long while before you get a go on Mr Toad's Wild Ride (just us?).

It's an inherently displeasing experience - the reason you're escaping to this place is to avoid such tedium! - which means that theme parks do their best to make standing still for a long period of time more bearable. Which doesn't involve putting fun stuff to do in the queues, or otherwise keeping you entertained, but just straight up lying.

It's also literally something that airports also do, in order to stop people kicking off about the arduous process of boarding - wait times are intentionally wrong so that, when it doesn't take as long as estimated, you leave feeling good about yourself. And the clocks they have on offer are usually going a touch slower, so it doesn't seem like as long a wait, either.
