17 Disneyland Secrets They Don't Know Want You To Know
4. Plus Frequently Make Lines Longer
The worst part of all that is, whilst maintaining the illusion that you're not actually spending as much time in a queue as you think (even though you actually are), those head honchos at the amusement park are also artificially increasing your wait time. They're like Doctor Who with all these wibbly wobbly timey wimey manipulation stuff.
Do people who run theme parks have some sort of superpower, to be able to change the passage of time - or at least your perception of such - without even trying? Nope, they just have to be savvy business folk who don't see the point in keeping things running at full capacity if it's a weekday, and it's not a school holiday, and attendance is a little low.
In those cases then, once again, their top priority isn't making sure you have the best weekend possible. They already have your money, after all - once you're through those confusing turnstile gate things, they just want to do their best to keep a hold of your precious cash. Which means that if you're queuing for a ride that's not so popular, or the park is generally quiet, they'll end up increasing wait times by taking carts off of rollercoasters.
Not only does this have the practical purpose of lessening the expenditure of electricity and such to make the ride work, but it also creates the impression that the rides are still exclusive experiences worth standing in line for - even though, in reality, there aren't enough people around to create an actual queue.
