14. KFC Doesn't Deep-Fry Chicken, They Pressure-Fry It
The creator of KFC - Harland Sanders - did not want to deep-fry his chicken because he believed it ruined the quality of the product, but it took 35 minutes for him to make it from scratch using his original method. However, once the first commercial pressure cookers were released on to the market in 1939, Sanders decided to customise them so they could "pressure-fry" chicken. The production time was reduced, but Sanders was adamant his method retained the quality of pan-fried chicken.
